Maponos was specifically created to support orchestral excerpts practice. With Maponos, you can customize your practice session and adapt it to your needs when you can’t practice with a real orchestra.

One of its main features is immersive audio: a virtual orchestra that realistically reproduces what happens around every single instrument.

This allows you to experience the exact sound perspective you would have from your seat in the orchestra. Thanks to details like acoustic reverberation and the spatial perception of other instruments, the context is clear and rich, making orchestral excerpt practice more effective.

Binaural (or immersive audio) reproduces sound so that it is perceived as coming from multiple directions.

This technique uses two audio channels, one for each ear, mimicking the natural way our ears receive sound from different positions.

With a pair of open-back headphones, binaural audio simulates the direction of each sound according to the position of each instrument in the orchestra, replicating the position you would have during the performance in the orchestra.

When practicing orchestral excerpts, binaural audio significantly enhances your listening and learning experience, providing a more realistic perception of the sounds and instruments around you.

This helps you develop better spatial and interpretative awareness, which is essential for every classical musician.

Maponos recommends using open-back or semi-open-back headphones, as they allow you to fully perceive binaural audio. These types of headphones do not cancel external sounds. While practicing, you can clearly hear both the instrument you are playing and the audio from the Maponos Orchestra, providing an immersive experience and a more effective practice session.

Of course not. We also offer stereo audio.

In this case, the sound perspective is frontal and direct, reflecting what the conductor would hear. It provides a clear sense of the orchestral context, just as it would be perceived from the podium.

Maponos stereo audio is an ideal solution for:

  • instrument teachers who want to enhance in-class lessons
  • groups of students who want to practice together
  • musicians who want to work on excerpts collaboratively
