FAQ
The Maponos Orchestra is a virtual orchestra that realistically simulates the soundscape of an ensemble performance. Precisely calibrated to the position of each instrument, the Maponos Orchestra simulates everything happening around a single orchestral musician, from acoustic reverberation to spatial perception of other instruments, making the study of orchestral excerpts more effective and focused. The Maponos Orchestra is a service included in your Maponos Music subscription.
When practicing with a real orchestra is not possible, Maponos is here to help. During auditions, you must show your musicianship as well as your technical and interpretation skills. Thanks to the Maponos Orchestra and its realistic simulation of the surrounding sounds, you can focus on improving each of these skills as long as you need. Almost anything can be customized in your practice session: tempo, active sections, metronome, loops, volumes, and much more. Maponos is a first-class tool to achieve the confidence you need when preparing for auditions and competitions.
Maponos offers high-quality audio tracks with options for stereo and binaural audio, ensuring superior sound realism through meticulous mixing and mastering. The player allows you to adapt the study experience to your needs. On top of this, there is an ever-expanding catalog of orchestral excerpts on clear scores, available both online and offline.
To access the advanced Maponos player you can visit our catalog: here you will find some always free excerpts that you can try for as long as you want. If you decide to subscribe, just click on the options available on the page.
Binaural audio lets you hear a set of sounds from a specific perspective. This technique uses two audio channels, one for each ear, mimicking the natural way our ears receive sound from different positions. With a pair of open-back headphones, binaural audio simulates the direction of each sound according to the position of each instrument in the orchestra, replicating the position you would have during the performance of an orchestral excerpt. When practicing orchestral excerpts, binaural audio significantly enhances your listening and learning experience, providing a more realistic perception of the sounds and instruments around you. This helps you develop better spatial and interpretative awareness, which is essential for every classical musician.
Maponos recommends using open-back or semi-open-back headphones, as they allow you to fully perceive binaural audio. These types of headphones do not cancel external sounds. While practicing, you can clearly hear both the instrument you are playing and the audio from the Maponos Orchestra, providing an immersive experience and a more effective practice session.
The Maponos App is available on the Google Play Store for Android devices and on the App Store for iOS devices.
Yes. Send us an email at [email protected] and we will work together to find a solution for your school or conservatory.
After subscribing, you can use Maponos on all your devices, but the Maponos Orchestra can only be used on one device at a time – logging in from a new device will automatically log you out from the previous one. It is not possible to use the Maponos Orchestra simultaneously on multiple devices.
If you purchase the basic Maponos subscription plan (“Adagio”), you can use the service with an active internet connection only (“online”). Without internet connection, several features will not be available.
The other subscription plans also offer the “online and offline” option. This allows you to save your favorite excerpts on your device and use them without an internet connection (which is useful, for example, when practicing in areas with poor signal), in addition to the usual “online” features.
At launch, the offline service is available on all mobile devices but not on desktop computers. This is due to the fact that mobile devices have a dedicated app, while desktop devices temporarily utilize the web app through our website. Maponos is currently working on developing the desktop app as well, so that the service can be used offline on laptops and desktop computers as well.
